Fotoscope Duopose Help - adding your own poses
|
| Introduction |
Procedure |
|
The DuoPose comes with two posestands one of which contains 30 sample poses. This
stand is No Modify and will not allow you to add your own poses. The second
stand is modifiable (and copiable) and is designed to accept your own poses
regardless of their permissions.
|
There are 4 steps in the process:
- gather together the poses you wish to use
- add your animation files to the DuoPose
- edit the .MENUITEMS notecard
- adjust the pose positions
Each of these steps is fully explained in the following sections.
|
|
1 Gather your poses
|
2 Add your animation files to the DuoPose
|
|
Most couples poses are to be found in poseballs. It is the animation files inside these poseballs which you need for the Duopose.
The first step is to move or copy the animation files from these poseballs to your inventory. Each couples poseball set will have two poseballs
each of which will have an animation file inside it. If you already have the actual animation files in your inventory go straight to the next section.
If not, here's what to do:
- create a folder in your inventory for your poses
- rez a couples pose
- right-click either poseball and choose Edit
- click Edit Linked Parts in the Edit dialogue
- select the Contents tab
- right-click either poseball to select only one poseball
- drag the animation file from the Contents to your inventory. (Please note that you will be warned if it is No Copy pose.
Be aware that these poseballs will no longer work once you have removed No Copy animations.)
- repeat with the other poseball
- do this with each pose you wish to use
|
- make sure the inventory folder containing your animation files is open
- right click on the DuoPose and choose Edit
- Open the Contents tab of the Edit dialogue
- drag the animation files from your folder to the Contents
- close the edit dialogue
NOTE: Each posestand can hold a maximum of 70 couples poses. |
|
3 Edit the .MENUITEMS notecard
|
|
Many animations are No Modify so it is impossible to change their names. Because a script cannot read the filenames and match them up
automatically there is no alternative to creating a notecard to access the different poseball couple sets from menus.
The .MENUITEMS notecard contains the menu structure used by the Duopose and the definitions required for each pose. The DuoPose will not
operate properly without an accurate version of this notecard. It is wise, therefore, to keep a copy in your inventory so you always have a backup.
|
Step 1
- open the Inventory folder containing an empty .MENUITEMS notecard. You may need to rename this
- open this notecard
- the first two lines contain information for the default poses and should not be altered or removed
- the 2nd section, headed MENU MAIN MENU lists the main menu options
- the remaining sections list each of the sub-menus containing the poses themselves. Each section begins

The .MENUITEMS notecard

|
|
Step 2 - The Main Menu
This is the first menu you will see. It contains a button for each sub-menu.
It will look something like this:
MENU MAIN MENUTOMENU FunTOMENU KissesTOMENU SexyTOMENU LyingTOMENU SittingTOMENU Standing
Line 1 is the title for the Main Menu. You can make this anything you like as long as the line begins with the word MENU (must be in capitals).
For example: MENU My Poses
Each subsequent line contains the titles of any sub-menus For example: TOMENU Sitting. You can use your own names (up to about 10 characters)
for sub-menus.
You can create a maximum of 12 sub-menus.
|
 |
|
Step 3 - Pose sub-menus
Sub-Menus contain the references to the poses themselves.
The first line is the title for each sub-menu. It has the following format:
- it must begin with the word MENU
- This is followed by a space and then the name of the sub-menu eg MENU Sitting. (The names of the sub-menus MUST correspond
to the names you listed in the main menu section.)
- The name MUST be followed by the | or pipe character.
- The rest of the line should be left unchanged ie | ALL | PINK | BLUE
Line 4 should always read BACK and should be left untouched. This creates a BACK button on each sub-menu, allowing you to return
to the main menu at any point.
The other lines contain the details for each couples pose set. For example: POSE Wistful | mslfemale26 | mslmale26
They should have the following format:
- each line must begin with the word POSE
- this is followed by a space and then the name of the pose. This can be anything you like up to a maximum
of about 10 characters eg Wistful
- the name must be followed by the | character
- next, type the name of the female animation. This must be typed precisely and is followed by the | Character
- finally, type the name of the male animation file
- repeat for all the poses you wish to add
You can create a maximum of 11 poses on each sub-menu.
|
TIP:
Pose names are notoriously complicated and if they are No Modify you can't change the name or copy and paste it directly.
You can however right-click a posename and choose Properties. This opens up a dialogue where you can easily copy and paste the posename.
This guarantees an accurate copy.
|
|
Step 4 - Add the .MENUITEMS notecard to the Duopose
- click Save at the bottom of the notecard and close the notecard
- right click the DuoPose and choose Edit
- open the Contents tab
- delete the existing .MENUITEMS notecard
- drag a copy of the new .MENUITEMS notecard from your inventory to the Contents
- close the Edit dialogue
- restart the DuoPose
The script will report an error if you have made any mistakes in the notecard. Make any necessary corrections and then restart.
|
|
|
4 Adjust the pose positions
|
 |
|
Start up the Duopose and jump on the poseballs. You will need a friend to help! When both avatars are in a pose:
- click Adjust on the Duopose HUD. Pink and blue semi-transparent bars will appear
- right-click either of these and choose Edit. (You can select and edit both bars together by holding SHIFT
and clicking on both bars)
- adjust the position by dragging the usual Edit arrows
- hold down CTRL to rotate the poses
- click Escape when you are happy with the adjustment
- click Save to save this position permanently
- if you click Cancel then the pose will stay in the adjusted position but will revert to the saved position
the next time you select it
